Historically important typed manuscript by Jim Bishop, the noted American author and columnist who wrote the award-winning book, ''The Day Kennedy Was Shot.'' Unsigned first draft of an article for ''The Ladies Home Journal'' entitled: ''That day-a decade ago-in Dallas,'' 18pp., written in 1973 on the tenth anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Over 150 holograph corrections, type-outs, removed passages, etc. are present in this exceptional manuscript which would eventually become Bishop's follow-up to his acclaimed book. In part ''…Mrs. Kennedy had shouted: 'What are they doing to you?' She tried to climb out on the trunk of the car. In a matter of fact way, she said: 'They have shot his head off'…Outside the hospital…a Secret Service agent was arguing in a whisper with Mrs. Kennedy. 'No!, she was saying…you know he is dead…let me alone.' Richard Nixon, who left Dallas that morning (he was working for Coca Cola) said 'The President may have to drop Johnson as his running mate…he is a liability to the ticket.' As Nixon nodded, got into his limousine, a reporter ran to him: 'Hey!' he shouted: 'Kennedy has been shot in Dallas!' Vice President Johnson stood inside the drapes of the clinic cubicle (Parkland Hospital) and said: 'Think he will be able to make the speech at the trade mart?'…'' Incredible manuscript containing recollections not available in any other source. Included in lot is a final draft carbon type-script. Excellent condition.
