The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the rural
nostalgia of the Snake River Valley reflect in the meticulous
watercolors by Jeffrey H. Craven. Growing up in the valleys
on the Idaho side of the Tetons provide a wealth of material
for an artist to draw from. Jeff was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho,
spent his earliest years in Swan Valley and then returned to
Idaho Falls to raise his family with his wife Nancy. Craven
attended Idaho State University in Fine Art and worked at
the National Engineering Laboratory as an illustrator before
making the jump to full-time professional artist in 1979.
Some of the other bright spots include his induction into
the American Indian and Cowboy Artists Association and
multiple selections into the Arts for the Parks top 100, the first
of which hung in the Great Hall of the Smithsonian. Craven
has been selected for the Great American West Show at the
prestigious Settler's West Gallery and has been a participant
in the American Miniatures Shows there for a decade. Jeff
and Nancy now reside at the studio which he build himself
along the Snake River near Ririe, Idaho.
