AN UNUSUAL JAPANESE MIXED METALWORK BRACELET WITH FLOWERS AND BIRD DESIGN
A rare Japanese mixed metalwork bracelet whose 17 segments are shaped like crescent moons, and are inlaid with gold and silver on a black ground. The designs are birds and flowers. The base metal of the settings appears to be a gold-washed silver, but is unmarked, and we have not had it tested. Be that as it may, the value of this piece lies in the unusual metalwork inlay, rather than the setting. The metalworking tradition in Japan dates back hundreds of years, and was passed down through the sword-making families.
Length of the bracelet is about 7.5", and width is about .8". Condition is excellent, but the safety chain appears to be missing. If you enjoy wearing unique jewelry that no one has ever seen before, you will love this bracelet.
