Circa 1720-1760 Japanese Imari Porcelain Barber Bowl. Barber Bowls are a form that was produced by the Japanese in the late 17TH Century to Early 18TH Century. These were typically made for the European Market. The open cut out section was placed against the chin and a string was threaded through the two holes on the top opposite side and than placed around the neck to support the bowl. This bowl measures 10 1/2" in diameter and is 2 1/2" in depth. It is decorated in a wonderful imari palette of underglaze blue with a overglaze of red and gilt. The center of the bowl is decorated in a beautiful vase of typical imari colors surrounded with flowers. Wonderful Quality and in Excellent Condition with No Restoration. Barber Bowls are Extremely Rare and hardly none will be found in this quality and condition.
