This beautifully carved cane has a 5.25" long bone handle, with a lotus nut "knob", a pad in the middle of the handle,and vines and leaves forming a loop through which a cord could be strung. There is a .5" wide nickel band joininghandle to shaft, that is constructed of socketed sections of bone threaded onto a metal shaft, with each sectioncarved to resemble bamboo. The second through seventh sections have etched bamboo designs, then 3 plainsections, then 2 sections with Japanese inscriptions. The ferrule is missing, but the bone is stained where it oncewas. There are several small areas of bone loss, one leaf which supported the nut on the handle is missing, as well assmall sections of the sockets of 2 shaft pieces. The end where ferrule is missing also has a small split. Overalllength, 36".(EST 600-800)
