JANE PIERCE (1806-63) 1st Lady. Her personal song book, signed on inside front cover "Jane M. Appleton, Boston, Decem 1829", 46pp, 4to. Inside she has penned the notes and words to a score of songs, including "Yankee Doodle"; "God Save the King"; "Hail Columbia"; "Washington March"; etc. 4 additional autograph manuscripts (unsigned) have been tipped into book. Exterior wear, with covers nearly detached. Interior has average soiling, o/w VG. Jane M Appleton was brought up in an atmosphere of cultivated and refined Christian influences, and was thoroughly educated (her father was the President of Bowdoin College). She married Franklin Pierce in 1834; had three sons, none of whom survived her. A wonderful pierce of 1st Lady memorabilia!!! $1,000-1,500
