LS, 1p, 8vo, Washington DC, Dec 6, 1804. Madison writes from the “<i>Department of State</i>” to Governor Thomas McKean of PA. In accordance with an Act of Congress mandating the “<i>promulgation of Laws of the United States</i>,” he advises that he has “<i>transmitted to the Collector of the Customs in Philadelphia Eleven hundred and Sixteen copies of the Laws</i>” of the “<i>1st Session 8th Congress, being the proportion for the State of Pennsylvania with a request that he would forward them to your Excellency</i>...” Boldly signed. Fine example. Handsomely matted beside color lithograph and descriptive plaque. Contained under glass within ornate gilt frame. Overall 35"x19½".

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
