(JAMAICAN SLAVE TRADE): HENRY MOORE Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of Jamaica. Rare D.S. with large wax seal, 14pp. folio, [Kingstown], 1758, concerning the estate of English Jamaican Michael Farrell and various claimants thereto. The largest part of the document lists Farrell's huge holdings on the island and the value of each item noted, with over 126 slaves mentioned by name, along with their values and at times with comments such as "distempered", "a very Old Woman", and so on. Most importantly, the document includes a very rare [detached] wax pendant seal, 4 1/2" across, depicting on one side a kneeling figure, most likely a slave, with the British royal seal on the reverse. Fold splits at places with no paper loss, some soiling, overall very good. $1,000-1,500
