Manuscript of "Balkeress his Memoirs anent the Revolutione", a contemporary copy, in the hand of a Scottish scribe, of Balcarres's Memoirs concering the Glorious Revolution of 1688, addressed to King James II, concluding with a copy of the Latin elegy by Dr. Alexander Pitcaire on Viscount Dundee and the English version by John Dryden, 110 pages, small 4to, contemporary calf, [c.1690-early 1700's], rubbed, hinges broken, lower cover detached. *** The third Earl of Balcarres managed James's affairs when the King fled the country. He was involved in the abortive Montgomery plot to restore James, went into exile in 1690 and joined the Jacobite court at St. Germains. The Memoirs were not published until 1841 £200-300
