ALS in French, signed “Jön Berzelius,” one onionskin page both sides, 5 x 8.25, August 24, 1838. Letter of recommondation to chemist Antoine François Boutron-Charlard in Paris In part (translated): “Allow me to recall to your memory in recommending your kind reception Mr. Thaulow, Norwegian, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Christiania, which to finish his academic visit intends to spend a couple of months in Paris. I have to thank you for the beautiful treatise on adulteration of drugs than you did me the friendship of me and to congratulate you on the honorable municipal plan that has given you …” In fine condition, with light show-through from writing on opposite sides, some light wrinkles, and slight paper loss to second integral page.
