J.R.R. Tolkien typed letter signed. Single page letter composed on personal stationery and dated 1 June 1966 measures 5.5” x 7”. Signed in ink in Tolkien's distinctive calligraphic hand. In part: “...I am always pleased to hear from people who have read and enjoyed my books...” Postscript reads, “My next book will be called The Silmarillion. It is about the First and Second Ages.” First three initials of signature light, but legible, bisecting mailing folds & a few wrinkles, else near fine.
