Tolkien: <I>Farmer Giles of Ham</B></I></B></I> embellished by Pauline Diana Baynes (London: George Allen and Unwin Ltd., 1949), first edition, first issue, 79 pages, light orange boards with blue titles, 8vo (5.25" x 8"), dust jacket. Color frontispiece. Profusely illustrated. Top edge stained blue, "6s. net" on the inner dust jacket flap. Tolkien's early novella is a folk tale set in a fantasy version of England and relates the story of Farmer Giles' encounters with a dragon named Chrysophylax.
