Cal. 12 Ga. 2 1/2". S# 94496. (CA 1908) The model 15 was Sauer's entry level sidelock gun and retailed for $131.00 in 1929. This gun has 29 1/2" shoelump barrels fitted with concave matted game rib. Makers name & address and steel type are marked on breach ends. Barrel flats are stamped with Imperial German proofs and with 2 crowns. Case hardened full sidelock action features automatic safety, cross bolt 3rd fastener, bushed strikers, raised rib tumbler end cocking indictors & double triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of well cut scroll within line & small scroll borders. It is interesting to note that the S# is engraved on trigger plate. Replacement blued steel trigger guard is unengraved & fits inletting well. Lightly figured European walnut, steel capped pistol grip buttstock. Measures 14 1/2" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a sling loop matching that screwed to bottom rib is on toeline. Matching splinter schnabled forend has Deeley release. CONDITION: good as partially refinished, barrels retaining most of what appears to be original blue, considerably thinned & with overall light freckling. Action retains a considerable amount perhaps 10 to 15% of original case hardening color where protected and is mostly bright silver to gray, replaced trigger guard retains most of its reblue. Stocks retain most of an old refinish with subsequent marks & dings; sharp edges somewhat rounded, checkering recut. Bores show considerable pitting throughout, action is tight, barrels are on face, mechanically fine. (22-5121/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
