This J.P. Lower percussion half-stock percussion rifle is approx. .45 cal. with a 38 in. barrel. The barrel is marked J.P. Lower Phila. and is 7/8 in. across the flats. This rifle is in G good condition with a repair to the tang area and lock. The butt plate heel tip is stressed. The gun is all original with a Circa date of 1855-1860. J.P. Lower was apprenticed to the famous Kentucky gunsmith Joseph Grubb of Philadelphia, Penn. This particular gun has no cap box but has double set triggers and a half-round and stepped cheek-piece. The gun carries a brass trigger guard, pewter nose cap, under rib and ram rod, the stock is walnut. The lock is typical Lower and is unmarked; but typical of Phila. style locks of the period. The lock-plate shows a repair. This gun would make a great display gun repesenting the end of the Kentucky rifle era leading to the Civil War.

This is a Black Powder gun; no FFL required.

This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith.
