Fantastic J.M. Barrie autograph letter signed to a Mrs. Pogson, mentioning ''Peter Pan'' as well as the death of his agent Addison Bright and the famous theatrical producer, Charles Frohman. Dated 28 June 1906 on ''Egerton House / Berkhamsted'' letterhead, Barrie writes in full, ''I shall contact Mr Frohman about your proposal and let you know in a few days. Mr Bright's death has been a cruel blow to me. I didn't see any German papers about Peter Pan but would like to. Do as you think best with regard to other productions in Germany of 'Peter'. I don't expect to be staying in London again until autumn. I am very sorry that this prevents me seeing you. Yours sincerely / J.M.Barrie''. Less than two months before Barrie penned this letter, his closest friend and agent, Addison Bright, committed suicide after being charged with defrauding his clients, including Barrie. Barrie, however, believed in his friend's innocence, based on their long history; Bright persuaded Barrie to bring ''Peter Pan'' alive on stage and introduced him to Charles Frohman, who staged all of Barrie's plays, including ''Peter Pan.'' Single 5'' x 8'' sheet, written front and verso, is in very good condition, with edges of horizontal fold separating, and light wear and soiling. A rare letter by Barrie with reference to his two colleagues and his most famous literary creation.
