Rare multi-colored pie plate Cookstown, Pennsylvania, mid 19th century. Green and yellow slipware tulips. Impressed "J.L. Blaney, Cookstown, Pa". Imperfections include edge chips, some filled in, surface wear including loss to tulips. 11" diameter. Justus L. Blaney (1809-1875) was listed as a potter in Cookstown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1850, but by 1860, he was reduced to the job of "day laborer" in Meigs County, Ohio, and then by 1870, had moved to Muskingum County, Ohio, and described himself as a "farm laborer".
