For your consideration is this framed print titled, "The Old War Bonnet" by J.H. Sharp (1859-1952), originally painted in 1916. J.H. Sharp was an American artist and founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. He is best known for his Native American Indian portraits and Western landscapes. Among his many accomplishments, President Theodore Roosevelt commissioned him to paint 200 portraits of the Indian warriors who survived the Battle of the Little Bighorn. This print shows a Native American man holding an old war bonnet, possibly thinking about the past and the memories the bonnet holds. Sharp's signature can be seen in the bottom right hand corner reading, "J.H. Sharp" in black lettering. The print and frame show good condition overall with slight wear present to the frame. The visible art measures 9 3/4" L x 11 1/4" W, while the entire piece measures 12 7/8" L x 14 1/4" W x 1 3/8" D. It weighs 2 pounds and 2 ounces.
