Union general (1823–1903) noted for his performance at Gettysburg. Original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Ward in uniform, by Charles D. Fredricks of New York, signed on a slip affixed to the lower border in black ink, “J. H. Hobart Ward, Brig. Gen.,” and on the reverse, “Compliments of J. H. Hobart Ward, Brig. Gen.” In fine condition, with slight surface loss to reverse right border.
