Comprises: 1.) Autograph letter signed "James G. Blaine," 1 page 4to, Augusta, GA, September 1, 1884. Inscribed at top "Confidential," Blaine writes attorney Walter Allen of New York City and requests "...give the enclosed [not present] a hearing in the press...I think it will not prove altogether uninteresting..." 2.) Partly-printed document signed "John A. Logan," 1 page, oblong narrow 8vo, Washington D.C., February 20, 1884. A U.S. Senate Postmaster receipt for a letter from Springfield, IL. 3.) Five assorted republican ticket ballots including federal and state candidates. 4.) Nine assorted Blaine and Logan portrait items including a matched pair of albumen cabinet cards, pair of carte de visite size lithographs on card stock, pair of cabinet card size advertising lithographs on card stock, printed oblong narrow 16mo jugate advertising card, and two 48mo lithograph portraits of Blaine. 5.) Printed 8vo pamphlet "Address of Carl Schurz at Brooklyn, N.Y. August 5, 1884," 29 pages, Republican and Independent Head-Quarters, Boston, MA., 1884. A pro-Blaine publication with original wrappers. 6.) Narrow 16mo. Blaine & Logan ledger book with lithographic candidates' portraits on obverse and reverse, and manuscript accounting entries within. 7.) Stamped low-relief pasteboard endorsement which reads, "The Republican Candidates 1884 / Good Men & True / 'These Be Americans' / Van Campen & Johnson N. Y." 8.) Lithographic portrait of Blaine. Reads, "Hon. James G. Blaine. / of Maine / Republican Candidate for President of the U.S. 1884 / Pub. by J. H. Bufford's Sons New York Boston & Chicago."
