An interesting collection of correspondence between FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and the man who served as his ghostwriter through the 1930's, Courtney Ryley Cooper. An accomplished writer in his own right, Cooper published many books regarding criminal justice and wrote hundreds of articles for virtually every prominent newspaper in existence at the time. During his career as Hoover's ghostwriter, Cooper wrote numerous articles--most of which were published in American Magazine--which were labeled as Hoover's own. A total of 10 items-7 one page typed letters 2 two page typed letters 1 handwritten postcard-make up this impressive offering, with all letters being penned on Hoover's personal FBI letterhead during the years of 1936-37. Topics between the two range from friendly discourse to Hoover asking Cooper of his advice regarding the publishing of one of his (Hoover's) books.
