(1895 - 1972) Controversial Director of the F.B.I. who built the organization into the world's finest investigative agency. Fine lot of two items, both sent to AL SCHACHT (1892-1984), professional baseball player and coach nicknamed "The Clown Prince of Baseball". Includes: T.L.S. on FBI letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, Jan. 11, 1936 sending a signed photograph and thanking Schacht for his visit to FBI headquarters, along with the photograph, 14" x 11" b/w, shows Hoover, Schacht, Schacht's wife and another man in Hoover's office, inscribed to Schacht and signed by Hoover at bottom, January, 1936. One tiny spot on letter, else both pieces are very good.
