Rare TLS signed “Jerry,” one page, 8 x 10, June 20, 1962. Letter to a literary publisher, concerning Salinger’s appreciation for the publisher having provided him with sales figures he had requested, probably for Franny and Zooey which was published in 1961. In full, “Many thanks for sending those sales figures. I haven’t quite broken the code yet, but it makes absorbing reading anyway. I’m very glad and thankful that sales have been that good. Also, I go on taking a deep and possibly unwholesome pleasure in the physical appearance of the book, the simple comeliness of the jacket, binding, print, margins, size, etc. Not less so, certainly, since the British hard-cover cheap edition arrived here.

Thanks, too, for sending on the Grunwald party book to Dorothy, who in turn kicked it along to me. A fine, impersonal, scholarly book, a sort of handbook for Luce employees and most modern literary clinicians everywhere. It’s going to be interesting to see if any of the reviewers wonder, even for a minute, if the book is based on a real-life person.

All goes along well enough here, and I hope it does with you. Happy anniversary. Hard to believe we’ve been together all that long.” Nicely cloth matted and framed by Gallery of History, with a biographical plaque and an image of Salinger, to an overall size of 30 x 17.5. In fine condition, with an erased pencil notation under signature and a pencil mark through greeting, Oversized.
