<B>J. D. Salinger Typed Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>Jerry</B></I>". One page, 8.5" x 10.5", plain paper, no place, July 9, 1965, to Ned Bradford, Salinger's then-editor at Little Brown. In full: "Dear Ned, That note was very welcome. Thanks so much for it. Not a droughtless summer, no, but a good one, on the whole. Hope things go well with you, too...I heard from Dorothy that you both had a nice lunch together in London. The Connaught. My idea of a pretty dining room. I do greatly appreciate those lines in the mail. Best wishes back to you, and added thanks." The Dorothy he mentions is almost certainly Dorothy Olding, his New York literary agent. This letter was written shortly after Salinger's last published work <I>Hapworth 16, 1924</B></I> in the June 1965 issue of the <I>New Yorker.</B></I> The date has been circled in red and "Salinger misc" is notated at the top in red likely in Bradford's handwriting. Mailing folds, else very fine (and certainly very desirable!). <BR><BR>There's a modern Hollywood story that speaks to how rare a J. D. Salinger autograph is. It was only a few hours after Nicolas Cage met Patricia Arquette that he announced he was going to marry her, a proposal that she initially declined. Arquette thought him strange but played along by creating a list of nearly-impossible things Cage would have to do to "win her hand." The list included obtaining the autograph of reclusive author J.D. Salinger.
