Hooded pin front and fixed buckhorn rear sight with tang mounted staff peep sight. The top barrel flat is stamped "J. CLUTZ / MASSILLON, O". Josiah Clutz was a Massillon, Ohio gunsmith circa 1858 to 1866 and specialized in percussion half stock rifles (see F. Seller's AMERICAN GUNSMITHS). The light scroll engraved lock plate is marked "RIDDLE" in a banner. Brass furniture with pewter forend cap. Equipped with double set triggers. Half stock with a checkered wrist and crescent buttplate.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 40% of the thinned original brown finish. The hammer and lock have a smooth gray patina. The brass has a polished appearance. The stock has a long tight hairline crack present on the left side of the buttstock, otherwise is fine with some minor handling marks and a couple gouges. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
