J Christoph Kuchenreiter flintlock dueling pistols in case. MFG in the 1700's! Fine 18th-century German flintlock dueling pistols, 9 1/2" barrel, 15" overall, bearing the maker's name "I. Christoph Kuchenreiter" finely inlaid in silver along the top panel of the octagonal to round barrel. The barrel is additionally decorated with stylized inlaid silver foliate patterns, with a polished brass or possibly gold disc inlaid at the top of the breech end, depicting a prancing horse and rider over the maker's initials "I C K". . The breech end of the barrel is also fitted with a rear notch sight with two folding blades for different adjustments, with the base of the foresight inserted into a dovetail groove at the muzzle The metal shows oxidation and some pitting,. Wood is smooth with exquisite carvings. The bore, approx. .50-caliber, shows oxidation overall, Fabulous addition of 18th century history by a well known gunsmith for your collection!
