<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>John Boynton Priestley (1894-1984). English author and playwright depicting the ordinary archetypal Englishman. His works include <i>The Good Companions</i> (1929), <i>An Inspector Calls</i> (1946) and numerous critical works. Interesting collection of four TLsS and postcard ALS, 5pp, 8vo and 12mo, Aug 20, 1954 - Dec 1955. On his “Brookhill, Brook, I.O.W. Brightstone” and “Piccadilly London” letterheads plus a postcard from Venice. To Grace Wyndham Goldie at BBC, Priestley writes in part, “<i>Here are the two comic books I promised. The new one is in proof (not corrected in this instance) because I haven’t yet got my own copies; if it does not make you laugh, then there is no hope for me. The other fat book - of which in many ways the first chapter is the worst...has yet to have justice done to it generally...It took more out of me than anything I have ever done.</i>..” In the remaining letters, he mentions dinner and travel plans; various ideas related to television; indicates he has just turned down an invitation to appear in ‘<i>In The News’</i> and suggests Margharita Laski and others for a “<i>regular programme of lively intimate discussion and really good talk - Table Talk, perhaps...no chairman and no rubbish - I’ll take charge if you like</i>...” Some wear, especially to one letter; else VG.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
