Twelve large octavo text volumes featuring numerous fold-out maps and illustrations, plus five octavo volumes of plates, photographs, and illustrations designed to complement the text. <BR><BR>Brick red cloth covers with gilt design on cover and gilt lettering on spine. All books show light to moderate shelfwear, occasional rubbing and a few bumped corners. Spines are lightly and uniformly sunned, with surprisingly little wear or bumping to spine ends. Deckled fore-edge; top and bottom edges are gilded. Textblocks are uniformly fine, with bright clean leaves and only very occasional smudging or foxing.
