J.A. Molina Sanchez (1918-2009) Oil Painting
For your consideration is this amazing original oil painting done by José Antonio Molina Sánchez in 1928 titled, "Ermita De San Antonio Per Florida". José trained at the School of Arts and Crafts of Murcia whose director was the sculptor José Planes. During the 1930s he published his first formal portraits and began to collaborate in magazines and newspapers as an illustrator. He has had his work in many museums in Murcia, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Zaragoza and Santander. One notable museum is the Museo Del Prado in Madrid, Spain. The painting shows the San Antonio de la Florida Chapel in Madrid, Spain in the background while groups of people flock to it for an unknown reason. In the foreground is a woman in a yellow dress sitting on the ground with two other women and two men. The painting shows great attention to detail and amazing contrast between the colors use in the piece. The painting is set in a large gold painted wood frame and features a gold colored plaque on the bottom of the frame showing the artist, the title and the date it was made. The back of the canvas has a handwritten title as well. The painting and frame show good condition with some wear from its vintage age, but no obvious signs of damage are noted. The visible art measures 28 1/4" L x 26 1/4" W, while the entire piece measures 32 7/8" L x 30 7/8" W.*
