Important Johnson County War revolver with impeccable provenance. This Colt with serial number 11876 is listed in the list of “Arms and Accouterments of Major Wolcott’s Party,” May 8, 1892. The Colt is a .45 cal. with 4 3/4” barrel and hard rubber eagle grips. Included is a F.A. Meanea, Cheyenne, Wyoming holster with trimmed body. J.A. Garrett was only one of 4 men charged with murder in the 1st degree by the State of Wyoming (filed in Johnson County) for the killing of Rueben “Nick” Ray and his partner Nate Champion during the invasion of Johnson County and the siege of the K.C. Ranch. This filing was on June 6, 1892 before the raiders were moved to a more sympathetic Laramie County. Garrett was a Texas gunfighter hired as a regulator by the big cattle ranchers along with 21 other Texans.
