Soviet general and Marshal of the Soviet Union (1897-1973) who led Red Army forces on the Eastern Front during World War II, and was responsible for taking much of Axis-occupied Eastern Europe. In 1961, as commander of Soviet forces in East Germany, he ordered the closing of West Berlin to East Berlin during the building of the Berlin Wall. Word War II-dated DS in Cyrillic, two pages, 8.5 x 12.25, February 13, 1940. Issued from Khabarovsk (Siberia), a document marked "Top Secret," which reads, in part (translated): "The review showed that guarding and control from the commanders, commissars and heads of staff of the 34, 35, and 78th Infantry Division after the teaching of riverboat troops…doesn’t exist." Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Ivan Konev. In very good to fine condition. Accompanied by a vintage postcard photograph.
