Ithaca grade VII single barrel shotgun, 12 ga, serial number “344002-T”. The gun shows very ornate engraving with gold, silver, and copper inlays. There is a beautiful portrait of a stag gold-inlayed into trigger guard. The balance of the receiver shows typical scrolls with game birds inlayed. The gun is equipped with a 34” barrel, forend is a somewhat crudely made replacement. Buttstock shows fancy checkering in burled wood with losses at top of stock where it meets the frame. Some cracks, loss of varnish and general distress. The buttplate has been removed and the buttstock has been drilled to lighten it. The barrel shows 50-60% original blue with some serious pitting and polishing to remove erosion on right side. The frame shows approx. 70% old blue possibly original finish with some erosion, pitting, and new rust. The trigger guard shows 30% original blue with some heavy rust and significant pitting. The action is tight, the bore is bright, the gun is mechanically sound. Would make an interesting restoration project and worth saving due to the high grade of engraving. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
