Ithaca Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is a 1945 production U.S. Army contract pistol as produced by the Ithaca Gun Company. The left side of the slide is marked "ITHACA GUN CO. INC / ITHACA N.Y." and the top of the slide has a single "P" proof in front of the rear sight. The left side of the frame is marked "FJA" for Frank J Atwood, the U.S. Government Inspector, and a single "P" proof next to the magazine catch. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY". There is a faint crossed-cannon Ordnance proof by the hammer pin hole. It has a Flannery barrel marked "F" and "P" on the side of the lug. It has a serrated slide stop, thumb safety, hammer and arched mainspring housing. The grips are the correct wartime versions manufactured by the Keyes-Fibre Company that have a single five-pointed star with a "K" and a single mold number, both located on the inside of the grips. The pistol has been refinished in nickel, including the magazine, with a non-glare finish on top of the slide.
BBL: 5 inch round

Gauge: 45 ACP

Refinished with approximately 98% finish remaining. There is a small area on the left front of the slide where the finish has been removed by a chemical or solvent, a few minor dings under the finish and a few scattered minor scratches. The grips are excellent with a couple of minor dings and sharp checkering. With exception mentioned above, the markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
