G 11-12 lacking; slight marginal waterstain). Very good copy. € 200/400 I : 3rd edition (1st 1560) of a comedy performed at the Florentine Academy in 1544. Francesco d'Ambra (1499 - 1558) was a Florentine author who wrote this prose comedy, situated after the Sacco di Roma (1527), to attack the corruption of the clergy. Large woodcut mark on title. Some large decorative and historiated woodcut initials. II : 2nd edition (1st Florence 1569) of a comedy by Annibale Caro (1507-1566), poet, translator and polemical writer. This edition is dedicated by the publisher Aldo Manuzio jr. to Iacopo Mannucci (a relative ?), dated 6 Dec. 1581. Woodcut Aldine anchor mark on title-page. III : very rare edition of a comedy 1st performed in the Sienna Accademia degli Intronati on 26 Jan. 1560. BL attributes it to Alessandro Piccolimini (1508-1578), prolific author and at one time archbishop of Patras. Large woodcut mark on title-page.
