Italian flintlock blunderbuss with elliptical barrel and folding stock, probably brescian made, early to mid 18th century. Nicely carved stock with chiseled steel mounts. The gun measures approx. 32” overall with 18-1/2” barrel. The barrel flares to 1-1/2” across the muzzle. There is a trace of the maker’s cartouche at the breech but we cannot identify it. The metal surfaces are good with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The stock is very good plus, an original to the period ramrod is included. Even now (Wolfkillers) are favored in Italy. The Italian nickname for small concealable shotgun, used on two and four legged wolves.Est: $2,500 - $5,000
