Milan. Ducatone 1579, Dav-A8309. Struck in Renaissance Italy for Philip II of Spain (1556-98). Bearded portrait in fancy ruff (and armor?) facing right with the date divided into 15 and 79 in the field. Also dated on the reverse, in the exergue below the crowned arms of Milan. Rarely seen this nice. An ancient test-mark (?) appears in the field behind Philip's head. Otherwise well-struck, nearly XF, with well-set 2-tone gray toning. A handsome piece from this intriguing time in European history.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
