Italian Snaphaunce Flintlock Pistol with Engraving and Relief Carved Stock
Produced without sights, with a decorative band separating the round and octagonal sections of the barrel and scroll engraving on the tang. The lock and components are engraved, with a set of raised faces on the rear of the lock and hammer screw. Full length stock, with raised carved scroll and floral patterns around the tang and on the forearm, iron ramrod with engraved pipes, fancy cut-through reverse plate and inscription pane, and a buttcap with floral designs and a face surrounded by a radiant burst pattern. Notes from the consignor state that this arm was produced in the Anghiari region of Tuscany, circa 1720-1740.
