1909, Pennsylvania. Stock certificate for five shares issued to “Jay Cooke 3rd” and Signed on verso “Jay Cooke II” by JAY COOKE IV (1897-1963). Top center vignette of liberty, a sailor, and other people. Highly decorative. Punch and stamp cancelled. Very Fine. The seeming discrepancy of Jay Cooke IV signing Jay Cooke II is due to the fact that upon the death of his father, Jay Cooke III, and grandfather, Jay Cooke Jr., Cooke the IV became styled as Jay Cooke II.
