Israeli Declaration of Independence
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Very rare first published printing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, entitled in full, ''Israeli Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel.'' Declaration is printed in the ''Official Gazette'' of the Provisional Government of Israel and reads in part, ''The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Accordingly we, members of the People's Council, representatives of the Jewish community of Eretz-Israel and of the Zionist Movement, are here assembled on the day of the termination of the British Mandate over Eretz-Israel and, by virtue of our natural and historic right and on the strength of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.'' Lot also includes 24 other issues of the ''Official Gazette'' from 14 May to 1 October 1948, bound in blue cloth boards measuring 8'' x 12.5'', with 168 numbered pages in total. Unidentified ink writing on cover, and underlining and minor handwriting on inside pages. Some issues have more toning than others and a few pages have slight tears at the edges, with horizontal tears on two sheets of the 21 May issue. Overall very good condition.
