<Our item number 128135><B>Israel&#39;s Declaration of Independence, First Printing.</B> Israel&#39;s Provisional Government Official Bulletin No. 1 &#40;14 May 1948&#41;, with the complete Declaration of Independence, 3 pages, 13 ½&#34; x 8¼&#34;, undated. In Very Good condition, with some edge tears, minor foxing, and a few small holes. There is a 1¼&#34; x 1½&#34; repair near the top of the vertical fold. Fortunately, none of these problems affects the text. Very rare and a most historic document.<BR><BR>At 4:00 pm on Friday, May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. His reading of Israel&#39;s Declaration of Independence was broadcast to Jews all over the country. Ben-Gurion became the first Prime Minister of the new state, which was quickly recognized by the United States and the USSR.<BR><BR>It begins: &#34;THE LAND OF ISRAEL was the birthplace of the Jerwish people. Here their spiritual, religious and political identity was formed. H ere they achieved independence and created a culture of national and universal significance.
