<B>[Israel Putnam] Oliver Ellsworth, Thomas Seymour, and William Pitkin Manuscript Document Signed</B></I> as the Connecticut Pay Table Committee, one page, 7.5" x 4.25", [Hartford], May 16, 1775, ordering Treasurer John Laurence to pay "<I>...Genl. Israel Putnam Fifty pounds Lawful money as he is paymaster of the first Company in the third Regiment of Troops now raising for Defense of this Colony & charge the same to Account of the Colony of Connecticut</B></I>". Signed just a month before Battle of Bunker Hill where Putnam and Prescott manned a noble defense, repelling two British frontal assaults before being forced to abandon their works. Putnam, then already a Major General commanding troops in Boston, was unable to receive the payment. On the verso, his son, Israel Putnam Jr., has endorsed the verso noting receipt of the funds "<I>in Behalf of General Putnam at Hartford, 16 May 1775. Israel Putnam Junr</B></I>".
