Expert's Report: letter from Univ. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Bott,17. March 1995 to the owner of the above painting: "I had, until now, been unfamiliar with this piece and would like to congratulate you on your discovery which will occasion a reassessment of the oeuvre of Soreau." Dr. Bott intends to list this work in his upcoming catalogue of works. Drs Fred Meijer vom Rijksbureau voor kunsthistorische Dokumentatie (RKD), is now likewise familiar with the painting and has also recognised it as an autograph work by Isaac Soreau (information received verbally.) Dr. Bott was the first art historian to recognise the significance of Isaac Soreau as one of the most important German still life painters. In Edith Greindl's opinion the artist is distinguished by "une qualitè eblouissante", "une technique nette précise inegalé comme celle d'un graveur","une tension d'observation peu commune", "une richesse de la palette" and she considers him to deserve the "suscite l'admiration unanime des connaisseurs" Edith Greindl,"Les peintres flamands de nature morte au XVIIe siecle",1983, p.64-67).
