Confederate officer (1802–1888) best known for his leadership role in Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was severely wounded in the battle, losing a leg in addition to being captured. Ink signature, “I. R. Trimble of Maryland, Maj’r Genl P.A.C.S., wounded and captured, Gettysburg, July 3, 1863. Johnson’s Island, Feby 13th 1864,” on an off-white 5.75 x 7.25 lightly-lined sheet. Also signed by a member of Trimble’s staff, W. Carvel Hall, and a member of Stuart’s cavalry, Thomas Hollingsworth. Encapsulated in a mylar sleeve. In very good condition, with dampstaining to the right side and show-through from writing on the reverse. Page was originally contained in an autograph album from the Union Prison at Johnson’s Island where Trimble and his staff were held for a year and a half following their capture at Gettysburg.
