British writer and scholar (1766–1848) who is best known for his essays, letters, and for being the father of British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. New edition of The Calamities and Quarrels of Authors, edited by Benjamin Disraeli. London: Routledge, Warnes, and Routledge, 1859. Hardcover, 5 x 7.5, 552 pages. Tipped into the title page is an ALS signed "I. D'Israeli," three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.75 x 9.75, March 9, 1825. Letter to Mrs. William Elliot, thanking her for sending a manuscript and informing her that a Mr. Downs also sends his thanks and extends the pleasure he had when they first met. D'Israeli adds a lengthy postscript, and addressed the reverse of the second integral page in his own hand. In fine condition, with small splits along intersecting folds of the letter.
