Iron trade Axe in the style of the seventeenth century with blade approx. 3” long and approx. 8” overall with old wood handle that shows wear around neck, likely from being carried in a wet leather beltsheath; blade shows heavy dark patina with makers mark in a “sign of the snake”; similar to one pictured in the book “American Axes” on page 59; a great trapper or mountain man artifact.
