Lot of 14. Iron Specimens from the Eastern States and Georgia: Specimens include some of larger proportions i.e.: between 4”x3” or square 3”x 2” pieces (opposed to long and thin or smaller <1” specimens. The larger specimens include Goethite- round shiny black bubbled appearance, circular cleavage, Hurley, WI; a specimen containing greenalite, taconite, and quartz- greenalite appears in branded iron formations and is commonly found paired in quartz specimens- taconite is primarily mined in the Mesaba Range in Minnesota. Others in the lot include the shiny- metallic Hematite and quartz sample from Alston, England (very shiny, partially translucent, brilliant appearance, strong cleavage); Hemate, Alston, England and Wisconsin- these samples have elaborate layers and sleek cleavage.
