Irish Americana. Manuscript records of a smal
Irish Americana. Manuscript records of a small mill, New Bedford, Mass. stationers' label, comprising daily "time and pay roll" of a small crew of Irish laborers between Nov. 1868 to Jan. 1884. 8 1/4 x 1 3, original marbled boards, black leather spine. All the names are Irish or plausibly Irish: O'Brien, Daily, Considine, Quinn, Reagan, et al. By 1870, Stephen Mac (probably McNamara) and Timothy Sheen were added part-time. At the end of nearly two decades, the payroll still numbered only five. A few men sometimes worked in the "B. House"; most worked in the "Mill." Spine and cover much worn, internally neatly penned in brown, and fine. With Census and other research, the identity of the mill can probably be uncovered.
