Collection of Local Copper Falus, this fascinating group of 200 coins represents 35+ years of collecting these civic issues from the length and breadth of Iran. From about 1700AD to 1850 each city had its own style and weight standards and utilized images of lions, peacocks, rats, sunfaces and more. After 1850 (1271AH) a more standardized type came into use featuring a reclining lion with the radiant sun behind. This lot includes 120 examples of the earlier type, many with mint names, and 80 of the lion & sun variety, 14 of the scarce 12 1/2 and 25 Dinars denominations and 66 of the 50 Dinars. The grade is nice average circulated throughout and there does not appear to be much duplication, especially in the earlier types. The average retail prices for these coins when available tend to fall in the $10-$30 range, but some scarce mints command more. This and the following lot represent a great opportunity for a collector to identify and arrange these coins (which was the original intention of the consignor!) Total retail value estimated as $2000-3000. Sold as is, no return lot.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
