TLS, 7.25 x 7.75, personal letterhead, February 12, 1979. Letter to Joseph S. Susi, in full: "Enclosed is the last bit of memorabilia I have. If this does not reach you I cannot give you any further help. The Air Force shoulder patch was worn when I went to England and until the 8th Air Force shoulder patch was approved. Also enclosed is a pair of collar insignia. The U. S. was worn on the right side of the collar of the shirt and the propeller-wing was worn on the left collar of the shirt. The gold bars, one for each six months of service overseas, were worn on the left sleeve of the blouse. Also enclosed is an autographed photograph as requested." Included with the letter are the referenced items: a vintage matte-finish 8.5 x 11 photo of Eaker wearing his military uniform, signed in the lower border in black ink; gold bars for overseas service; the insignia of the US Army Air Force; and the US and 'propeller-wing' collar insignia. In overall very good to fine condition, with light staining and trimmed edges to the letter. Accompanied by an unsigned copy of Life magazine from November 29, 1943, showing Eaker on the front cover.
