Invitation to King George IV's coronation ceremony, held 19 July 1821 at Westminster Abbey. George had already been serving as Prince Regent in his father's stead for a decade before he was ultimately crowned King himself. Invitation, numbered 2862 is to the ''Hall'' rather than the ''Abbey'' as seen on some invitations. Features an etched vignette in black and blue surrounded by an embossed border featuring a design of thistles, shamrocks and Tudor Rose. Invitation is addressed by hand at lower left to one Rev. WF Bayley, North Door Vaultings Box No. 27 & 28. Signed on the border, ''Howard Higham''. Measures 10.5'' x 9''. Page features an integral blank. Light soiling and separation to folds along the bottom edge, else near fine given age.
