Interesting small silver spoon, approx. 5-1/2” overall with pleasing age patina and stamped on the back side of the handle “800” with a half moon and lantern on the left of the number and a German spread eagle to the right of the number; on the front side of the handle is the nazi symbol of the eagle over the swastika and the capital initials “A” and “H” on either side of the symbol. This spoon is accompanied by an undated handwritten note that says “Dear Dick, I am giving this spoon to you taken from Hitler’s home during World War II. Phyllis McGehee gave it to me as a souvenir. Her husband was in service of U.S.A. Major James McGehee and got a set of these spoons as a souvenir from the spoils.” . . . . Aninteresting piece that deserves further research. Est.: $75-$150.
